Women’s health research is chronically underfunded and under-researched. In 2020, only 5% of global research and development funding went to women’s health, split mostly between women’s cancers and fertility, leaving broad areas of women’s health (including autoimmune diseases, depressive disorders, and conditions that present differently in women than men) largely unstudied.
Our latest report, Borders and Gendered Bodies: Access, Autonomy and Agency, describes how for women on the move, this gap only widens.
Restricted abortion access for Ukrainian refugees in Poland, menstrual health in transit and detention, maternity care tangled up with border enforcement, and menopause, a stage of life that barely registers in migration health policy at all. Time and again, the report shows that women’s health is treated as an afterthought, both in how reception and integration systems are built and in the conversations we have about migration more broadly.

Our free resource posters aim to be a simple reminder that no woman’s health should be ignored. Each one carries a short message and a QR code linking to our full report. Let’s start a conversation, call for unity and repeat the message that health is a universal human right.
